Notes on Painting with Black

Tube black is flat. I mix mine from ultramarine and burnt umber, so it can lean warm or cool depending on its neighbors.

In Rust Arc, the black had to be warm enough that the orange gesture felt like it was emerging from it, not sitting on top.
